So02Jan17:00So19:00Engadin Festival - Piano Days 2022With pianist Oliver Schnyder

Event details

The internationally acclaimed Aargau pianist Oliver Schnyder is currently considered the most successful Swiss piano export. Since his debuts at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC and with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich under David Zinman in 2000, he has appeared in famous concert halls in Europe, North America and Asia such as Carnegie Hall, Concertgebouw Amsterdam and Wigmore Hall. The media call Oliver Schnyder a “piano poet”, intelligent, sensitive and virtuoso. He sees himself as a seeker: «You research, doubt, despair, discover, enjoy. I am always looking for beauty. " Oliver Schnyder is a guest in the Engadin with one of the greatest masterpieces of classical music, Bach's "Goldberg Variations". During the pandemic-related performance freeze in 2020, he seized the opportunity and dealt intensively with this milestone in music history: “The work is beautiful, comprehensive and very complex. Although I had saved this task for old age, now was the right moment, »he says. In difficult times like these in particular, the value of music as a source of consolation and balm for troubled souls has opened up to him again in a completely new way.
