We are Swisstainable
The Swiss sustainability program Swisstainable unites businesses and organizations across the entire tourism sector and already includes over 2,200 tourism establishments. By participating, we commit ourselves to continuous sustainable business development. At our hotels Reine Victoria, Laudinella, and Corvatsch, we therefore implement concrete sustainability measures and thus make an important contribution to sustainable Swiss tourism.
Lake St. Moritz as an energy source
Every lake contains valuable thermal energy, including Lake St. Moritz. A modern heat pump can extract some of this stored energy and use it as sustainable heating. In this way, nature provides us with a large portion of our heating needs practically free of charge: innovative, environmentally friendly, and energy-saving all at once. The ecosystem remains completely intact.
We use this form of heat generation in our houses and have thus managed to heat all our buildings in a CO₂-neutral manner.
From local wood to interior design dreams
The entire new construction of our apartments, The Suites, and The View at Laudinella was consistently realized with a focus on regional, sustainable resources. Only wood from Graubünden was used for the design of the rooms and was sourced responsibly. We ensure that the forest is not exploited, but remains part of a natural cycle and can regenerate. This results in architecture that respects its origins and enables a future.
We have made over 85 percent of our investments in the region, thereby strengthening local value creation and material cycles:
- Over 1,000 regional trees used in construction
- All trees within a 100-kilometer radius
- 70 % of the strain was used
- The rest of the trunk was converted into pellets or biochar for heating.
- Theoretically, the amount of wood used in the construction regrows in just 12 hours: 1 million m³ of wood grows back annually in Graubünden, which equates to 114 m³ per hour. The result: 12 hours for 1,400 m³ of wood.
And the advantage that our guests particularly appreciate: Our rooms are furnished to a high standard in an alpine style, featuring cozy and modern Swiss pine wood from Graubünden. The pleasant scent of the wood immediately conveys a feeling of well-being and relaxation.
Architecture meets energy generation
With our expansion of the Laudinella and the addition of the new units, we have set an important example for sustainable architecture in collaboration with Solarix. The centerpiece of the project is an integrated solar facade that combines efficient energy generation with sophisticated design and blends harmoniously into the existing architecture and the alpine landscape.
As one of the first large-scale solar facades of its kind in Switzerland, the project combines innovative photovoltaic technology with a high-quality wooden facade made from regional timber from Graubünden. A total of more than 1,200 m² of facade elements were installed, of which almost 490 m² generate solar energy. The system produces around 26,800 kWh of electricity annually and saves approximately 7.2 tons of CO₂.
A specially developed, warm green tone gives the facade an elegant, vibrant look and combines functionality and design at the highest level.

Our tap water originates where the mountains are still untouched. Pure mountain spring water from sources in Suvretta, Alp Giop, Alp Nova, Chantarella and Blais Glischa flows directly into our pipes and thus to you.
Gently processed using a modern system from BWT AQUA AG, its natural quality is preserved – fresh, clear, and unadulterated. We consciously avoid single-use bottles and rely on a direct, sustainable recycling system.

Cooperations
Pigna Verde: On the trail of the bark beetle
The Swiss foundation Pigna Verde is committed to the protection and reforestation of mountain forests in Graubünden. And one creature in particular has made itself at home there: the bark beetle. It is considered one of the most dangerous pests in forestry, spreading further and further due to changing climate conditions and causing entire forest areas to die.
To stop this, all hopes now rest on Zino, Anco, Dyson & Co., all trained detection dogs that can identify bark beetle-infested trees early, before visible damage occurs. We have supported the training of two dogs to help protect our forests.
Waves
In partnership with the Graubünden Water Association, we are committed to making water a tangible, vital resource – for locals and guests alike.
The result: projects focusing on education, sustainability, art, and culture in the Alps. The aim is to promote environmental awareness and support regional economic development.
