In 2016, singer Julia Ehninger, saxophonist Fabian Willmann, trombonist Janning Trumann, bassist Florian Herzog, and drummer Eva Klesse formed their quintet after all five moved to New York at the same time. They called themselves "Trillmann" and landed their first gig on Broadway. Performances at Carnegie Hall and the Jazzbaltica Festival followed.

Since then, the five have each enjoyed brilliant independent careers. But Trillmann has remained a musical passion project for them, full of naturalness and energy in their collaborative playing.
