One of the special features of the SJSO is that the young musicians help shape the concert programs themselves. The 2022 spring tour brings together two works that have long been on the orchestra's wish list. The soloist in Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto is Rennosuke Fukuda, born in Japan in 1999, who combines award-winning virtuosity with astonishing interpretive maturity and thus represents one of the most exciting voices of the future.
In Bartók's «Concert for Orchestra», the idiosyncratic title says it all, the focus is on the orchestra. In the work written in 1944, Bartók measures very different areas of expression and will thus challenge the SJSO in every respect and – as so often with demanding pieces in the past – let it shine!

Peter Tchaikovsky: Violin Concerto in D major op. 35
Béla Bartók: Concerto for Orchestra
