Event details

Among the countless competitions, the Concours Géza Anda is a unique and extraordinary institution in international comparison. The winners were announced in Zurich last June: Ilya Shmukler, born in Moscow in 1994, not only won the first prizes from the jury, the audience and the junior jury, but also the Mozart Prize. "Here is a captivating storyteller, an extremist in both the quiet and the loud, someone who captivates because he takes risks," wrote the FAZ. He has literally reborn the Mozart piano concerto, leaving the audience "breathless and heart racing."

Born in Moscow, Ilya decided to devote his life to music at the age of ten. He gave his first recital at ten, his debut with orchestra at twelve, and soon he was performing in Europe and North America. In 2022, Ilya was a finalist at the Van Cliburn International Competition. He is currently studying with Stanslav Ioudenitch at Park University in Missouri.
