Opera Engiadina will produce a "Grisons Hunter Opera" in October 2026. The Grisons Hunters' Association will be the patron. The opera is based on Carl Maria von Weber's famous opera "Der Freischütz." However, the plot (scenario by Claudio Danuser and Manfred Ferrari) will be tailored to the "King of the Bernina," the legendary Engadine hunter Gian Marchet Colani from Pontresina (1772–1835), who was rumored to have shot with enchanted bullets—a motif that corresponds precisely to the magic bullets in "Der Freischütz." The opera will center on the infamous Wolf's Glen scene, which will be performed in the Ova da Bernina gorge near Pontresina, and will feature the famous hunters' chorus, sung for the first time in Romansh by Engadine and other Grisons hunters.
