In early 2020, Judy Birdland will form a new band. The music seems lighter and poppier than the sound of the first albums.
With Hans Feigenwinter on piano and keys, Manuel Sidler, electric guitar, Christophe Muheim, bass, and Adrian Stirnimann, drums, she finds fellow musicians who inspire her and breathe soul into her new compositions.
Jazz, folk and blues elements meet pop music in a mixture of earthy sound worlds and spherical music. Brazilian influences can also be heard. This sounds like a wild mix - influenced by these styles, an idiosyncratic sound is created: A pulsating drum, a resiliently driving bass, two guitars - one singing spherically and expressively, the other dimly plucked - as well as supporting the colorful patterns and sparkling sounds of the keys the expressive voice of the singer and contribute equally to this sound experience shaped by longing.
The band is currently producing their first EP and is looking forward to introducing the new music to the public. The program is supplemented with jazz standards from the Great American Songbook.
