Literary writing is creation, but often also processing biographical events. The texts at the 18th 70+ writing competition (exclusively for those over 70) on the topic of “ancestors” are correspondingly exciting. Of the 311 contributions from the entire German-speaking region, the jury honored the works of the following authors: René Graf (CH), Margit Heumann (A/D), Brigitta Michel-Schwartze (D), Christine Olmos (CH), Detlef Siehl (DE), Brigitte Stuiber (A) and Niklaus Völke (CH).
The competition prize consists of a joint appearance at the “Zurich reads” festival. Then we go to the Engadine for a week to continue working on existing projects or write new texts under the aegis of author Richard Reich. From this rich spectrum, the 7 winners will now present a “best of” in an entertaining workshop reading in the Hotel Reine Victoria.
The principle of the “Over 70” competition is simple: Any writer (currently) born in 1953 or older can submit a text on the given topic. The 19th competition on the topic “The Letter” will run until December 31, 2023.
