Event details
As part of the Jazz @ Reine Victoria concert series, singer and composer Cinzia Catania, together with her international quintet, presents two concerts at the traditional Hotel Reine Victoria in St. Moritz.
With over 1,000 concerts in the past fifteen years, Cinzia Catania is one of the most distinguished voices on the Swiss jazz scene. Concert tours have taken her throughout Europe, the USA, and Lebanon. Appearances at the Festival da Jazz St. Moritz, the Blue Balls Festival Lucerne, numerous tours in the Middle East, and at the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium in Gran Canaria attest to her international presence.
Together with Pascal Fernandes (trumpet), José Braide (piano), Lucyann Ceballos (bass), and Alberto GarcÃa (drums & percussion), Cinzia Catania unfolds a multifaceted sound that blends modern jazz with Latin American influences, lyrical ballads, and powerful grooves. The five musicians create a vibrant dialogue between composition and improvisation – full of expression, joy of playing, and musical openness.
Cinzia Catania's original compositions tell stories shaped by personal experiences as well as her stylistic curiosity. Sometimes intricately woven wind lines take center stage, sometimes rhythmic energy and catchy melodies. Her music combines emotional depth with a distinctive sonic signature.
Cinzia Catania studied jazz vocals and composition in Groningen (NL), Graz (AT) and Lucerne (CH). With her artistic versatility and expressive voice, she has made a name for herself as a composer and singer far beyond the Swiss jazz scene.
The two concerts at the Hotel Reine Victoria promise musical encounters of the highest caliber and invite you to experience jazz in all its diversity – approachable, inspiring and full of creative energy.
