Event details
The Academic Chamber Orchestra Zurich (AKO), a joint venture of ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich, was founded in 1992. Depending on the program, the orchestra comprises approximately 40 students, assistants, and alumni from both universities. The AKO's programs are developed through intensive rehearsal sessions. Typically, two projects are performed annually. For 30 years, the orchestra's founder, Johannes Schlaefli, served as artistic director. In October 2022, he was given a well-deserved send-off into retirement with a concert at the Tonhalle Zurich. The baton was taken over by the young, up-and-coming conductor Georg Köhler.
