The courageous departure of a married couple in the third stage of their lives into an unknown future.
Leaving everything behind without writing a goodbye letter? That's exactly what Julian had planned, but then Michèle unexpectedly comes home early. The two have been married for 30 years; Julian is a psychoanalyst, Michèle a pianist. Now, they spend one night taking stock—of their lives and their love. Angry, passionate, and witty, they grapple with their feelings.
about each other and about life's big questions. Childhood memories mingle with intimate confessions, radical existential questions, and merciless reckonings. One night to end things for good or to fall in love all over again.
The play La Note (original title, translated as "The Farewell Letter") by French author Audrey Schebat premiered at the Théâtre des Bouffes Parisiens in Paris in September 2023, starring Sophie Marceau and Françoise Berléand. The Swiss premiere is presented by the newly founded Theater Affix. The play addresses relevant social issues such as the complexities of marital relationships, their mutual dependencies, and expectations.
