Event details

Viviane de Farias & Band This exceptional musician will be accompanied by a top-class band with whom she has already toured the world. A daily changing program awaits you, featuring fiery samba, rhythms full of improvisational enthusiasm and sensual refinement, as well as original compositions by the "Ambassador of Bossa Nova," as Vivi De Farias is also known. Viviane de Farias (BRA/USA/D), vocals, developed her talents with acting and singing lessons in Rio de Janeiro and Chicago, and after studying opera studios, she came to the Karlsruhe University of Music as a scholarship holder. She combines elements of jazz, classical music, and samba, performs in interdisciplinary art projects, and enjoys crossing musical boundaries from baroque to opera to experimental music. Jazz, however, is her greatest passion. Bodo Maier (CH), trumpet, has played with various Brazilian musicians and formed the "Bodo Maier Brasil Quartet." Energetically charged jazz, samba drive, and the soft sound of the flugelhorn give his music a light and invigorating quality, uplifting everyone who listens. Tizian Jost (D), piano, trained as a classical pianist, but his heart is set on jazz and Brazilian music. For 20 years, he has successfully trained jazz musicians at the Munich University of Music, given guest performances worldwide, and is involved in crossover projects with classical music and literature. Mauro Martins (BRA), drums, also composes and arranges and has performed with stars such as Phil Collins, Tania Maria, and Airto Moreirea, as well as at festivals such as Free Jazz São Paulo, Montreux Jazz, Olympia, Blue Note, and Birdland. He has been on the road with Viviane de Farias for many years as part of the duo Balakumbala. Fabio Gouvea (BRA), bass, works as a guitarist, composer, and arranger. His art is reflected in a strong melodic approach, a deep harmonic concept and an uplifting rhythmic feeling. As a member of Hermeto Pascoal & Big Band it won the Latin Grammy 2018 as "best jazz album" for the CD Natureza Universal. For 15 years Fabio has been playing, touring and recording with the renowned Grammy-nominated band "Trio Curupira". Today Fabio lives in Basel, Switzerland, after being selected for the Focus Year program at the Basel Music Academy.   free entry
