“Cool – soft – groovy and touching” is how the Githe Christensen Quintet stands out with its versatile repertoire. The palette ranges from jazzy standards to Latin American beats and bluesy shuffles. Githe Christensen's own compositions are of course included in the program at every concert.

The formation was founded by Githe Christensen (vocals, compositions) and Thomas Driver (drums) in Denmark in 1982. Since then, the project has existed with a changing cast across all borders. The Githe Christensen Quintet is currently completed with Beat Gersbach (piano), Bernd Heyder (trumpet, fluegelhorn, tuba) and Samuel Kühni (double bass).

​The new CD “SIESTA” is now available. Recorded in the HKB studio in Bern, together with the brilliant Benoit Piccand at the desk, the compositions by Githe Christensen and a few standards by Bill Evans and Charles Mingus shine!
