Iraqi-born Aida denies her origins, which repeatedly leads to arguments with her boyfriend. In her distress, she sits down and begins to write down what she cannot say. Born in an Iranian refugee camp, she came to Switzerland with her parents and older sister. The girls go to school, but their parents cannot cope with everyday western life and increasingly glorify their homeland. The father, a conservative theologian, finally decides to return to Iraq with the whole family. But what is the homeland for the parents, which they once left, is a foreign country for the two sisters. When the older woman is about to be married, they flee themselves and end up in Switzerland as unaccompanied minors. But she doesn't let go of the past either.
