Event details
This volume contains a collection of twelve stories, one for each month. They are mysteriously interconnected beneath the surface. Sunil Mann describes the cycle of nature's growth and decay, recounting hope and transience within the annual cycle: of awakening love, fragile happiness, complex love triangles, waning passion, and the longing for a better life.
With the best of intentions, Sunil Mann ventures into a new literary genre and impressively demonstrates how well this form suits him. In nuanced language, he modulates the warmth and coldness of human relationships and tells stories of fates that resonate long after the final page. And he wouldn't be Sunil Mann if he didn't do so with his ever-present, subtle sense of humor and irony – and at the same time, in a highly entertaining way. Sunil Mann was born in 1972 in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland, the son of Indian immigrants. He has achieved great renown in German-speaking countries with his crime novels. Since 2016, he has also written children's and young adult books. His children's book was published in 2023. Kiera and his first novel With the best intentions published by Geparden Verlag. He has received numerous awards for his work, including the Literature Prize of the Canton of Bern, the Friedrich Glauser Prize, a six-month residency grant from the City of Zurich, and studio grants from the Landis & Gyr Foundation and the Aargau Curatorium.
