Maja Taube & Jan Galega Brönnimann

The Art of the Duo is the new project by Nuremberg harpist Maja Taube and Bernese bass clarinetist Jan Galega Brönnimann. Both have won the cultural promotion prize of the Middle Franconia district and the Canton of Bern. Here, the classically trained harpist Maja Taube meets Jan Galega Brönnimann, a bass clarinetist well-known in the jazz, world, and electronic music scenes. Their two musical worlds are skillfully blended and interwoven. The music of these two equal duo partners is characterized by the rhythmically precise, shimmering sounds of the harp and the melodic lines, which are sometimes smoky and lyrical, and at other times percussive.
the bass clarinet. The fluid transitions between composition, interpretation, and improvisation create tension and variety, resulting in contemporary chamber music. In August 2024, Maja Taube and Jan Galega Brönnimann seized the unique opportunity to perform seven concerts in one week at the Kohlenhof in Nuremberg as part of the Metropol Musik Cicadas Festival. Each concert was recorded. From this recording...
The duo's first CD was created: live from the coal yard

Maja Taube Maja Taube was born in Berlin and grew up in Nuremberg, where she received her first harp lessons at the age of eight. She studied as a guest student at the Meistersinger Conservatory in Nuremberg, where she later graduated. She also studied at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. After several years as a harpist in the state orchestras of Nuremberg, Hof, and Coburg, she began to pursue her own projects and explore folk, world music, minimalism, and jazz. In her search for music that emerges from the instrument itself, she has developed her own unique sound on the harp. Her solo projects, Klanggewebe and Treibgut, feature her own compositions. Currently, Maja Taube performs solo, in a duo with the Swiss bass clarinetist Jan Galega Brönnimann, and with her band, the Treibgut Ensemble. She is also involved in various jazz, improvisation, and contemporary music projects. In 2023, she received the Cultural Advancement Award from the district of Middle Franconia.
