Paula Wiesinger was one of the most outstanding female alpinists of her time. She was one of the first women to master challenging climbing routes of the sixth difficulty grade and won gold at the 1932 Ski World Championships.

The book tells the extraordinary story of an unusual climbing partnership from their perspective: the friendship between South Tyrolean mountain guide Paula Wiesinger and King Albert I of Belgium, a passionate mountaineer. Together with her husband, Hans Steger, she guided the Belgian king on challenging routes in the Dolomites, Switzerland, and South Tyrol.

Based on research in five countries and richly illustrated with historical photographs, the book depicts Mark Sebille The portrait of a pioneer of alpinism – and of a special friendship that transcended social boundaries.

After the presentation, the audience is invited to an aperitif in the Laudinella Lobby for further discussion with the author.
