Depending on the program, the orchestra comprises approximately 40 students, assistants, and alumni from both universities. The AKO&#039;s programs are developed through intensive rehearsal sessions. Typically, two projects are performed annually. For 30 years, the orchestra&#039;s founder, Johannes Schlaefli, served as artistic director. In October 2022, he was given a well-deserved send-off into retirement with a concert at the Tonhalle Zurich.
