Kabelevsky's Violin Concerto was composed in 1948 for the famous Russian virtuoso David Oistrakh and remains his most popular and frequently performed work for soloist and orchestra. The piano reduction of the orchestral part is the composer's own work and, in combination with the relatively short duration of the individual movements, makes this violin concerto a unique recital piece<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Alexander Scherbakov is one of the most talented and interesting violinists of today. Loved by the audience and praised by the press, as a soloist and chamber musician he dedicates himself to well-known as well as new and rarely performed works of classical music literature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Scherbakov studied violin at the Purcell School of Music in London, the Eastman School of Music in New York, the University of Southern California \u2013 Thornton School of Music in Los Angeles, the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Zurich University of the Arts in Zurich.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As a winner of numerous international competitions (including the International Johannes Brahms Competition and the Michael Hill International Violin Competition), Alexander Scherbakov worked with famous conductors throughout his solo career, such as Charles Dutoit, Wen Pin Chien, Mandy Rodan, Michal Tilson Thomas, Sir Simon Rattle, Sir Roger Norrington and John Williams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Scherbakov's performances at the Davos Festival quickly rose to fame. The Davoser Zeitung wrote at the time: \u201c\u2026unearthly\u201d, \u201c\u2026flawless technology\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today the violinist mainly gives concerts abroad, for example at the Carinthian Summer Music Festival, Bermuda, at the Festival Internacional de Musica de Sao Caetano do Sul, Brazil, and at the Pacific Music Festival, Japan. Concert tours and recitals repeatedly take him to Germany, Austria, Italy, New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Diego, and back to Switzerland via Eastern Europe. In 2004, the Moscow-born violinist and successor to a musical dynasty acquired Swiss citizenship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The musical career of pianist Madalina Slav began at the age of 7, when she first performed in a solo recital and with an orchestra. A few years later, Madalina Slav won numerous prizes and awards at national and international competitions: "Golden Lyra", "Competition for Virtuoso Piano Playing" in Romania, International "Franz Schubert" Competition, International "S. Bartolomeo" Piano Competition in Italy. Concerts in the largest halls in Romania, as well as numerous appearances, radio, television and CD recordings in Italy, the USA, New Zealand and Switzerland followed. She completed her studies at the Music Academy in Bucharest with Dan Grigore and received a concert diploma with distinction. Madalina Slav continued her studies in Los Angeles and Switzerland and took part in master classes with Konstantin Scherbakov, Dana Borsan and Kevin Fitzgerald. Madalina Slav and her husband, Alexander Scherbakov, violinist and conductor, perform worldwide as a duo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
