Event details

The Swiss Youth Symphony Orchestra is an orchestra of a special kind: up to a hundred young musicians between the ages of 15 and 25 come together from all four parts of Switzerland and perform demanding works from all of them under the direction of internationally renowned conductors epochs of classical music.

In the rehearsals and at the concert performances, the talented young people gain important experience in playing in an orchestra, which has a decisive influence on the further course of their musical career. Many of the former SJSO members are now engaged in renowned professional orchestras. Due to the multilingualism, bridges are also built between the individual cultures of Switzerland.

Christoph-Mathias Mueller is the winner of the OPUS Klassik Award 2020 and the Echo Klassik Award 2017. The Swiss conductor, born in Peru in 1967, grew up in Switzerland. He studied violin in Basel and later earned his Master of Music from the University of Cincinnati. He has lived in Germany for many years and works from there all over the world.
